EYE EXAMINATIONS
COMPREHENSIVE TESTING WITH THE LATEST DIAGNOSTIC TECHNOLOGY
Bruce Avery Optometrist is contracted by the NHS to provide the General Optical Services Sight (GOS) Test. This provides a refraction (measure of error of focus) and an overall screening of ocular health.
However, the GOS sight test can be greatly enhanced by being supplemented with additional techniques such as digital imaging of the anterior eye and retina, OCT retina and anterior chamber scanning, which enable greater confidence in the diagnosis and management of a number of ocular conditions such as Glaucoma, Diabetes and Dry Eye.
WHAT DOES AN EYE EXAMINATION ENTAIL?
EYE TESTS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
We tell patients to allow up to an hour for their appointment if they opt for an enhanced eye examination including OCT.
Your appointment will begin with a 15 minute pre-screening with a member of the team before the GOS sight test takes place with our Optometrist. On completion, your results will be discussed with you and you will have the opportunity to ask questions.
If spectacles or contact lenses are required, you can spend as long as you wish with our dispensing team who will guide you through our range of quality spectacles and lenses.
Our children’s eye examinations are no less thorough, with specialised, friendly eye tests for kids from babies to teenagers.
DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT
WE INVEST IN THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY FOR YOU
Our enhanced eye examinations use leading edge technology and extended time for comprehensive procedures not covered in the GOS Sight Test.
We are fully equipped to monitor and detect possible early Glaucoma and other eye conditions such as Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy.
We want all patients to experience the higher standards of our private eye examination, so if you are eligible for NHS help we only ask you to pay the extended examination fee.
